Awareness Through Movement® lessons are Feldenkrais® group classes. Students within the class are guided to move slowly and mindfully with each open-ended question asked throughout the sequence of movements. Each student is invited to explore their functional human potential movement in regard to strength, flexibility, and the holistic integration of mind and body. This style of learning ties directly into functional movements required for activities of daily living, such as improving sitting or standing posture, efficiency of walking, and or lifting objects safely.
Lessons last in duration between 30 minutes and 1 hour. During a lesson, students may walk around the space, stand in place, sit in a chair, and/or lie on the floor in multiple positions within the range of comfort and ease. As the teacher guides the students through a series of movements, they are encouraged to explore with gentle attention upon how they move and what the connections between and within the movements is in their own experience. As students place their awareness upon the changing quality of movement, extraneous muscular tensions throughout the body decrease.
After an Awareness Through Movement® lesson, students often experience greater clarity within themselves as a result of neuromuscular repatterning.
Duration: Each class lasts about 45-50 minutes.

Functional Integration® Sessions
(One-on-One)
Functional Integration® sessions are private and one-on-one between the practitioner and client. The practitioner works with a client on movement lessons using non-invasive touch through clothing as the main channel of gentle communication for learning. The Feldenkrais® practitioner’s gentle touch reflects to the client how they habitually self-organize their body and act in the field of gravity. The practitioner offers possibilities of new movement explorations in a gentle way that is more comfortable and useful for the client.
Functional Integration® lessons are customized to the client’s unique needs at the particular moment. The lesson may involve lying on the table comfortably or a part of the lesson may be done in standing or sitting. Props may be utilized to support the client, clarify a movement, or to facilitate ease.
At the initiation of the Functional Integration® lesson, the client may express a desire, intention, or need as it relates to movement. Within this type of learning process, invasiveness and force are lacking. The practitioner establishes an environment of safety and comfort to allow for the client’s abilities and integrity to emerge. Upon a foundation of respect and rapport, the client learns how to reorganize themselves in more efficient patterns of movement through experiencing comfort, joy, and ease.
Cost & Duration: $130 per 60-minute in-person session.
