Service Description

Functional Integration® sessions are private and one-on-one. The practitioner works with a client on movement lessons using non-invasive touch through clothing as the main channel of gentle communication for learning. The Feldenkrais practitioner’s gentle touch reflects to the client how they habitually self-organize their body and act in the field of gravity. The practitioner offers possibilities of new movement explorations in a gentle way that is more comfortable and useful for the client. Functional Integration® lessons are customized to the client’s unique needs at the particular moment. The lesson may involve lying on the table comfortably or a part of the lesson may be done in standing or sitting. Props may be utilized to support the client, clarify a movement, or to facilitate ease. At the initiation of the Functional Integration® lesson, the client may express a desire, intention, or need as it relates to movement. Within this type of learning process, invasiveness and force are lacking. The practitioner establishes an environment of safety and comfort to allow for the client’s abilities and integrity to emerge. Upon a foundation of respect and rapport, the client learns how to reorganize themselves in more efficient patterns of movement through experiencing comfort, joy, and ease.
